WSH is the state of art facility operating since 1828 under Department of Behavioral Health and Development Services. WSH is 302-bed Joint Commission accredited facility located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley within 30-minutes of major university towns and is affiliated with the University of Virginia-Department of Psychiatric Medicine and provides a training ground for professionals from other colleges and universities in the fields of nursing, social work, psychology, and activities therapy.

This position will serve as a Chief Medical Officer of WSH, supervising and coordinating all activities of the medical staff. This position is responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of all patients in WSH, according to the Bylaws of the State Board of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS). Responsible for providing clinical consultation and supervision to medical staff as needed. Provide oversight of census management in collaboration with facility director. Responsible for providing on call coverage to admission office/hospital as a part of rotating schedule. Oversight medical education program at the hospital and maintain compliance with JC/CMS. Responsible for Medical staffing monitoring and evaluation. Backup coverage for facility Dir.
