Psychiatric Medical Director (Inpatient)

Location: Inpatient Behavioral Health Center

We are seeking a dedicated Psychiatric Medical Director for a long-term contract position at an Inpatient Behavioral Health Center. This role offers an opportunity for locums to perm if interested.

Key Details:

Specialty: Psychiatric Medical Director (Inpatient)
Start Date: As soon as possible (mid-Sept)
Contract Length: 3-6 months (ideally 6+ months for long-term commitment)
Shift Details: Mon-Fri 8a-5p; call not required but available; flexibility with shifts/schedule; weekend call ideally, but not mandatory

Support Staff: 1 doctor during the week and 1 PA
Patients per Day: Inpatient average census of 18 beds; average stay of 6 days
Patient Population/Age: Adults only; no primary alcohol/drug cases
EMR: Cerner (transitioning to Epic in June 2025)
Hospital Bed Size: 21 beds; average census of 18 beds; 3-4 admits and 3-4 discharges per day
Skills Required: Bread and butter adult inpatient psychiatry; light oversight/admin duties (10 hrs per month) for intensive outpatient unit; no Suboxone
Credentialing: 2-3 weeks for temp privileges
Medicare/Medicaid: Provider must be in-network for Medicare and in TN network for Medicaid (or willing to enroll)
Practice Setting: Inpatient Unit with light duties in the outpatient unit
