Neurosurgery PA Needed in NJ

Location: New Brunswick, NJ

Start: September/October

27-week assignment with the option to extend

Shift Details: Nights only

Amount of shifts: 6-10 shifts per month

Schedule: 6pm-7:30a Monday-Friday and weekend nights

Work Details:
• Support staff: There are 5 MD attendees as well as residents, which are easily accessible for the PA’s.
• Amount of coverage needed per month: 6-10 NIGHT SHIFTS
• Patients per day: varies.
• Patient population/age: varies.
• Department description: Well experienced neurosurgical PA for floor-based coverage of all neurosurgical patients including primary team responsibilities, consults, emergent consults in the ED for hemorrhagic strokes, ischemic strokes requiring mechanical intervention, emergent neurotrauma consultations and spine service consultations. Floor responsibilities include daily rounds with attendings, admission, progress and discharge notes, family follow up, placing consults and follow up for all neurosurgical patients including post op patients, neurocritical care level patients. In addition, there are expectations to perform bedside procedures like LP, EVD placement and adjustment, etc.
• EMR: EPIC
• Skills required: OR skill is nice to have but this job does not require OR time so the emphasis should be on patient management of neurosurgical patient non-ICU setting.

Requirements:
COVID Vaccine required (2 shots and booster) exemptions will be reviewed-not guaranteed.
• Board Certification: Required
• License required: NJ.
• DEA, CDS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS, BLS, Case logs
• Minimum experience required: At least 5-10 years or inpatient floor/consult neurosurgery experience 5-10 years of neurosurgery experience ideally.

Credentialing Timeframe: 60 -90 days
