Job description

The Cardiology Department provides medical care for military members, retirees, and their families.
The department provides full-service noninvasive and invasive cardiology, including exercise stress testing, echocardiography, ambulatory ECG monitoring, signal average ECG, tilt table testing and consultation.

QUALIFICATIONS
-Possess a minimum of five years of full-time clinical experience as a Cardiac Sonographer within the preceding seven years in a clinical setting of comparable size and complexity.
-Provide proof of professional development through continuing education within the last 24 months.
-Possess a minimum of 7, 500 echo studies performed.
-Possess a minimum of 5000 hours instructing -Echocardiograms either to CVT students or fellows.
-Possess Certification from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography specializing in adult echo.
-U.S. Citizenship (required for access to Gov' t computer systems)

DUTIES OF THE DIAGNOSTIC CARDIAC SONOGRAPHER:
Perform 2-dimensional, M Mode, pulse wave, continuous-wave Doppler and color-flow Doppler, and transthoracic echocardiography studies.
Perform Stress Treadmill and Pharmacologic Stress Echocardiograms with Dobutamine and Adenosine, to include optimal utilization of sonography contrast agents.
Assist physicians in the performance of transesophageal echocardiograms.
Assist in the educational mission of the cardiology division, through the teaching of cardiovascular fellows and cardiovascular technician students in the performance of echocardiographic studies.
Rotate into Ambulatory Electrocardiography Laboratory during the specified duty hours. Duties will include connecting and instructing patients on the appropriate use of 24-hour Holter monitors, 30 day event monitors, and 24-hour ambulatory blood pressure monitors.
Perform initial analysis of all 24-hour Holters and Event Monitors for cardiac arrhythmias as well as analyzing 24-hour blood pressure recordings for evidence of hypertension.
