Hem/Onc Provider needed in Oakland, CA!

Job description

• Amount of coverage needed per month: full time, 6 shifts/week, total of 24 shifts/month
• Patients per day: 8 patients per clinic half day, 16 patients per full day. Each half day includes 6 return patient appointments and 2 new patient appointments, one for oncology and one for hematology.
• Patient population/age: county patients, majority are Spanish speaking patients. There’s also a large population of African American and Asian American patients
• Department description: outpatient clinic, seeing county patients with a variety of hem/onc diseases. Common to see breast cancers, lung cancers, colon cancers, benign heme cases such as work up for anemia, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, MGUS etc
o Most common cancer is breast cancer, there’s a great breast cancer team to assist
o Second most common seen cancers are lung and colon. Lung cancers cases are usually metastatic. Colon cancer cases are mixed.
• Special procedures: Bone marrow biopsy, but we have IR that can do bone marrows as well
• Skills required:
o Strongly prefer providers with county hospital experience. Providers must be flexible. Not everything at this facility is ‘at their fingertips’ and providers will have to work with various teams and resources to facilitate care.
o Experience with advanced pathology
o Must have strong written skills, particularly with notetaking and patient charts
