Physician Assistant needed within the Topeka, KS area
We are currently seeking an experienced or graduating Physician Assistant to join a growing general surgery team in beautiful Topeka, Kansas.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Conducting thorough patient assessments, including obtaining medical histories, performing physical examinations, and ordering diagnostic tests such as laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures.
• Assisting the supervising surgeon during surgical procedures by providing surgical instruments, suturing, wound closure, and ensuring proper sterile technique is maintained.
• Providing preoperative education and counseling to patients and their families, as well as performing preoperative evaluations. Additionally, managing postoperative care, including monitoring patients' recovery, assessing wound healing, managing pain, and providing postoperative instructions.
• Managing and coordinating the care of surgical patients, including performing rounds, assessing patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary, and communicating with other healthcare team members regarding patient care.
• Performing minor surgical procedures under the supervision of the attending surgeon, such as wound debridement, incision and drainage, and the removal of sutures or drains.
• Providing patient education on surgical procedures, treatment plans, postoperative care instructions, and preventive measures. Counseling patients and families on health promotion, disease prevention, and lifestyle modifications.
• Documentation: Maintaining accurate and detailed medical records, including patient histories, progress notes, surgical procedures, and postoperative care plans, in accordance with regulatory requirements and institutional policies.
Required Qualifications:
• Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MSPAS) or a related field from an accredited physician assistant program.
• Certification as a Physician Assistant (PA-C) from the National Commission on Cert
