Peds Neurosurgery APP Coverage

Start Date: ASAP – December 2024

Contract Length: 4 mo – possibility to extend

Shift Details: 4x10/weekly, can consider 3d weeks

Work Details:
• Support staff: 1 RN, 1 APP, 3 neuro surgeons, 1 neurologist
• Patients per day: 3-12
• Patient population/age: pediatrics up to age 27
• Department description: Top tiered neurosurgical program. Not a ton of trauma. Sees everything from AVMS to Craniosynostosis up to major craniotomies. This unit is a consult service, not a primary service – APP would work in conjunction with other units for plans of care, continued care, etc. APP does a lot of meeting patients in ER, taking patients to radiology. APP is often in OR, but not first assisting. APP will hold consult pager and respond to consults. APP will act as continuity provider for patients while surgeons are unavailable.
• EMR: epic
• Special procedures: Reprogramming shunts, VP shunts, tapping shunts, CSF fluid collection with LP, LPs with intrathecal medication

• Skills required:
No first assist required
Must be competent in pre/post op care
Must be able to do consults
Must be comfortable rounding
