About the clinician's workday

The practice operates with five rooms from Monday to Friday, 7 am to 3:30 pm, using a three-physician model with one MD working each day on a rotating schedule. The call schedule involves 48 hours on, then 2 days off, followed by 72 hours on call for the weekend, then 48 hours off, and another 48 hours on, followed by 10 days off. Regular workdays are from 6:30 am to 6:30 pm (12 hours), and when on call, one night out of three may require staying until 9-10 pm, and there may be a 3 am C-section once every three weeks. The case mix includes general surgery, orthopedics, and proficiency in blocks, with MDs performing epidurals and being backed up by CRNAs, and handling cases while on call.
