A health system is seeking a hematology/oncology physician assistant for locum tenens coverage.

About the clinician's workday

The position is a 50/50 split between hematology and oncology, with hematology on Fridays. It involves seeing 10 follow-up patients per day, with no new consults. The start date is ASAP, and the need is ongoing for 6 months initially, with a preference for locum to perm. The schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm, preferably five 8-hour days. The role is supported by 3 MDs, 1 APP (with plans to add a 4th MD), MAs, RNs, and radiation oncologists. Doctors are present on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, while APPs work independently on Tuesday and Thursday. This position is due to a vacancy caused by a PA undergoing treatment for stage 4 liver cancer and an NP nearing retirement. Weekday call and weekend onsite/call ratios are to be discussed.
