Inpatient Psychiatrist - Weekdays, No Call - Texas

Aya Locums is seeking a Psychiatrist for a long-term inpatient assignment in Texas beginning in September 2026.

The schedule is Monday through Friday from approximately 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., totaling 40 hours per week. There are no after-hours, weekend or call responsibilities. The initial assignment is approximately six months with the potential to extend.

The psychiatrist will practice within a state-hospital setting caring for an adult population, including patients found Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity. The psychiatrist will lead multidisciplinary care for an established caseload averaging approximately 24 patients.

This is a relatively stable patient population with approximately one to two admissions and discharges per month. Responsibilities include psychiatric assessments, medication management, treatment planning, face-to-face evaluations and ongoing inpatient care for adults with mental-health and dual-diagnosis needs.

The psychiatrist will also complete required court-related documentation and may provide intermittent testimony when necessary. Additional responsibilities include participation in quality-improvement activities, chart review, medical staff meetings and collaboration with nurse practitioners and other clinical staff.

An active Texas medical license is required at the time of submission. The psychiatrist must also maintain an active DEA and current AHA-approved CPR certification. Recent Psychiatry or Behavioral Health experience is required. That said-- If you are IMLC qualified we will help with licensing!

This is an excellent option for a psychiatrist who prefers a consistent weekday schedule, a stable inpatient census and continuity with a longer-term patient population without nights, weekends or call.
