Job Description

The primary focus of the Psychiatrist is to provide direct patient psychiatric services to mentally ill inmates/wards under the direction of the Chief Psychiatrist.

Details:

Full-time or part-time
Locum position
Meet with mentally ill patient-inmates for crisis intervention, face-to-face interviews, etc.
Conduct evaluations including criminal, psychiatric, and substance abuse case history to assess inmate’s current needs
Conduct clinically sound suicide risk evaluations including clinical reviews, protocols, pertinent date reviews, and proper documentation
Monitor patient progress using SOAPE formatted progress notes
Identify the relevant signs and symptoms of medical/psychological disorders
Examine prior mental health records, probation reports, court records, and other available documents
Consult with supervising psychiatrist with complex or serious cases
Provide medication as deemed appropriate for treatment
Interpret lab results
Work in consult with primary care medicine

Qualifications

Valid California medical license
Board Eligible or Board Certified in Psychiatry
Minimum of twelve consecutive months of experience within the last three years
Active, unrestricted DEA
Current BLS
