According to the American College of Radiology (ACR) the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) requires all interpreting physicians, radiologic technologists, and medical physicists (including part-time and locum tenens staff) to have documentation showing that they meet minimum MQSA qualifications.
Continuing experience qualifications require 960 reads over a 24-month period. Don’t have enough reads? Need more information about MQSA? Here are some resources for you to use to obtain or update your MQSA certification:
- Go online to Efficiency Learning Systems (ELS) at www.effsystems.com. ELS is a source for doctors that offers resources and programs for online mammography reads or CMEs for MQSA certification.
- Click here for ACR’s Mammography Accreditation Program Requirements.
- Click here for the FDA MQSA requirements for physicians.
