Pediatrician (Hospitalist) Safety Harbor, FL (20 miles W of Tampa)

We are looking for a compassionate Pediatrician to join our practice as a Hospitalist, providing care within Mease Countryside Hospital in Safety Harbor, FL. The incoming Pediatrician would serve as our Newborn Hospitalist with approximately 0-2 babies per day on our census. This position requires rounding Monday through Friday in the mornings. This could be a full-time position if preferred, also seeing patients in our outpatient pediatric clinic after morning rounds in the hospital.

Newborn Hospitalist Job Purpose:
• Serves hospital patients in the newborn nursery by delivering routine newborn care to our patients who are not critically ill
• Facilitate consultations with the Neonatologist for newborns with acute issues who cannot be managed in the nursery
• Perform circumcisions on our patients when requested by the family
• Provide consultation services as needed and be the team leader in the care of the patient
• Completes all documentation at the time of service and submits appropriate charges within 48 hours of the patient’s discharge

General responsibilities:
• Provides consultations by examining patients; reviewing medical records, reports, and logs; researching information; developing conclusions and care recommendations
• Provides quality assurance services by prescreening cases requiring review by the quality assurance committee
• Maintains patient confidence by keeping patient care information confidential
• Updates medical knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
