Orthopedic Surgery APP Needed in CA

Location: San Francisco, CA

Start: April

26-week assignment with the option to extend

4 10-hour shifts per week

Work Details:
• Support staff: There is a 2nd APP most of the time, MDs are always available. Residents and fellows
• Amount of coverage needed per month: Full time
• Patients per day: up to 20 patients per day split between 2 APPs
• Patient population/age: adults
• Department description: Sees all ortho cases except spine. Department sees hips, knees, upper extremity, foot and ankle, pelvic
• EMR: EPIC
o Direct patient care activities
o Teaching
o Care coordination or non-billable activities
o Daily Inbox management, closes encounters within two days
o Clinical triage or provider on call
o Orders
 Labs, blood; Medications; Clarifications needed for meds, Physical Therapy; weight-bearing status, limitations, etc.; Orthotics/Prosthetic orders; Request Imaging, etc.
o Consults
 Calling for consults to ensure communication with other services regarding the care of ortho pts.
 Transfer patients to/from
o Patient Care
 Change/Reinforce dressings
 Wound inspection
 Pull drains/ IJ’s /central lines
o Patient Rounds
 Joining Rounds with physicians and residents.
 Regular communication/review with Residents for patient care; can be utilized with use of the “T” drive, telephone or personal contact.

Practice Setting:
• Hospital – Inpatient

Requirements:
• Board Certification: Yes, required for NP; ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC
o Master’s degree required for NPs
• State license required: Yes, State of CA
• DEA: Yes, Ca with schedule 2 required
• Certifications required: BLS, ACLS
• Minimum experience required: Must have at least 2 years ortho experience. Experience with total hip and knee would be ideal

Credentialing Timeframe: 60 – 90 days
