Locum | Physician | Obstetrics/Gynecology | Christiansburg, VA

Shift:
24-hour in-house call shifts: 7:00 AM–7:00 AM
8 shifts per month
4–8 shifts per month requested
Two consecutive 24-hour in-house call shifts may be worked

Start Date: October 26, 2026
End Date: Approximately April 2027
Position Details:

Patient Population: Obstetric and gynecologic patients

Setting:
Hospital
Clinic
Labor & Delivery
Acute-care medical center
Level II Nursery

Responsibilities:
Provide all OB services on Labor & Delivery
Provide unassigned OB/GYN call coverage for the hospital
Manage obstetric and gynecologic patients during in-house call
Perform core OB/GYN duties and minor gynecologic surgery
Manage residents
Support a busy practice averaging 70–75 deliveries and 20–25 non-obstetrical surgeries per month

Required Procedures:
OB/GYN core procedures
Minor gynecologic surgery

EMR System: EPIC
Support Staff:
5 Board-Certified OB/GYN physicians
5 Advanced Clinical Practitioners
1 Certified Nurse Midwife
Medical staff of approximately 280 physicians

Days Per Month: 8 24-hour in-house call shifts per month; 4–8 shifts requested

On-Call/Weekends:
24-hour in-house call
Day, night, and weekend coverage
Two consecutive 24-hour call shifts permitted

Requirements:

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Obstetrics/Gynecology
Active Virginia medical license preferred; willingness to license considered
Strong OB/GYN background required for candidates requiring licensure
DEA required
2–3 years of experience required; 5+ years preferred
EPIC experience
EFM, NRP, and PALS preferred
Ability to manage residents
Exact availability for 24-hour call shifts clearly stated

• Busy OB/GYN practice averaging 70–75 deliveries and 20–25 non-obstetrical surgeries monthly.
• Strong clinical support from 5 OB/GYN physicians, 5 advanced clinical practitioners, and a certified nurse midwife.
