OB/GYN Locum Tenens Opportunity – Alaska
Start Date: October 29, 2025 (Orientation: October 28, 2025)
AK Medical License Required at Time of Submission
We are seeking a Board-Certified OB/GYN for a locum tenens assignment in beautiful Alaska. This position will begin on October 29, 2025, and is approved through January 12, 2026, with the possibility of extension up to 6 months.
Expedited credentialing will be requested — AK license must be in hand at the time of submission.
Assignment Details
Location: Alaska (island community)
Setting: Inpatient & Outpatient (Hospital & Clinic privileges required)
Facility Beds: 25 total (5 Labor & Delivery beds)
EMR: Epic
Schedule & Hours
Clinic: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Call: 24-hour shifts, typically in 2–3 day stretches, with clinic coverage in between
Call Volume: Low – approx. 0–2 Labor & Delivery patients/day
Clinic Volume: ~10 patients/day
Annual Deliveries: ~150
Solo Coverage?: No – A second OB/GYN is always on call, with 24/7 ED and hospitalist support
Responsibilities
General OB/GYN duties (full scope)
Rounding & admissions
Low surgical volume – no scheduled surgeries unless assisting another provider
Patient population: Primarily adults, some pediatrics and geriatrics
Support Staff
Clinic: Medical Assistants, Nurses
L&D: Dedicated OB Nurses
Onsite: One additional full-time OB/GYN provider
Backup: Hospitalist & ED coverage 24/7
Requirements
Board Certification in OB/GYN
Active Alaska Medical License – Must be in hand at time of submission
Experience with both inpatient and outpatient settings
Comfortable with low-volume, full-scope general OB/GYN practice
