IM Doctor Coverage in California

Job description

• What are the physician shift times (how many providers on each shift)? 3 providers on day shift with rotation of admissions among providers (avg admit per provider 2-3). Each provider has certain times where they are accepting admissions for (3:30/4:30/5:30PM)
• Shift hours are 11- hour shifts.
• Adjustment made to 12 hours depending on patient census (#16 or higher) for local providers at the site currently
• Night: 1 provider on for 12-hr shift (mandatory in-house): admits 5:30PM-5:30 AM (avg admits 5-9)
• Any APP’s? If so, what are their shift times? none
• What’s the average daily census per doctor? Day 15-18 (adjustments made for higher census for local providers on site currently)
• Admit for ortho/cardiology/general surgery/oncology service that induce chemo
• Any procedures required? No
• Who runs codes? ED code team (we are present).
• We do respond to all rapid responses and run those.
• Open or Closed ICU? Closed (we do assume care once patients are stabilized, of s/p cardiothoracic cases, ie. s/p CABG, TAVR, Mitral clip)
• What subspecialty support is available (this is helpful, but not necessary): All subspecialty support is available except for in-house: rheumatology, endocrinology. IR/ GI intervention also avaiable
• What EMR do they use? Cerner

• 15-18 patients per day
