Job description

• # of patients per day: Varied
• Hospital bed size: 238 (Level III Trauma)
• Support staff: all hospital support staff; RNs, CNAs, phlebotomy, hospitalists, etc.
• Skills required: Proficiency in diagnosing and treating a wide range of infectious diseases, including knowledge of epidemiology, pathophysiology, and clinical manifestations. Ability to interpret laboratory tests, imaging studies, and other diagnostic procedures to identify the causative pathogens and determine appropriate treatment strategies accurately. Capacity to stay updated on the latest research, guidelines, and best practices in infectious disease management and apply evidence-based approaches to patient care. Effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare teams to convey complex medical information, discuss treatment options, and address concerns or questions. Collaboration with other medical specialists, including microbiologists, epidemiologists, pharmacists, and nurses, to develop comprehensive treatment plans and coordinate care for patients with infectious diseases. Knowledge of infection control principles and practices to minimize the spread of contagious diseases within healthcare settings and the community. Ability to analyze complex clinical scenarios, weigh evidence, and make sound clinical judgments in managing infectious diseases.
