Locum Tenens Opportunity – General Surgery Physician
Williston, North Dakota (St. Alexius Health System)
A facility in Williston, ND is seeking a General Surgery Physician for locum tenens coverage to support a provider on medical leave. This is an excellent opportunity to practice in a critical access hospital setting with a consistent call schedule and strong support team.

Position Highlights

Location: St. Alexius – Williston, ND
Coverage Dates: (10 days/month)
Schedule: 24-hour call shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM)

Setting: Critical Access Hospital

Practice Details

Scope: General Surgery call coverage
Procedures: Bread-and-butter general surgery procedures required
EMR: Meditech
Support: Backed by hospital providers, experienced staff, and leadership
Reason for Coverage: Provider medical leave

Volume & Expectations

Surgical Admissions: 1–2 per day
Monthly Case Volume: ~34 surgical cases
Call Coverage: Approximately 10 shifts per month
Provider will be expected to mirror historical volume and maintain consistent workflow

Clinical Expectations

Commitment to high clinical quality standards
Adherence to established facility protocols and performance metrics
Ability to function independently in a critical access environment while collaborating with onsite teams

Requirements

Board Certification: General Surgery (Required)
State License: Active North Dakota license (Required)
Certifications:
ACLS (Required)
BLS (Required)
ATLS (Highly Preferred)
