Locum | General Surgery Physician Opportunity | Edenton, NC

Job description

TinkBird Healthcare Staffing is seeking a Board-Certified General Surgeon to provide locum tenens call coverage at a community hospital in Edenton, North Carolina. This opportunity offers a combination of inpatient and outpatient call coverage with an established surgical practice. Providers will need to arrive the day before their first scheduled shift for orientation. A minimum of five years of experience is preferred.

Position Highlights
Inpatient and outpatient call coverage
Solo call coverage
Nights and weekends included
Established surgical practice
Average outpatient clinic volume: 25 patients per day
Up to 8 elective surgical cases per day
Average inpatient surgical census: 2 patients
Average of 1 surgical admission per day
May require ICU/Critical Care responsibilities
No code response requirements
Responsible for emergency department consults and procedures while on call
EPIC electronic medical record

Required Procedures
Upper endoscopy (EGD)
Colonoscopy
Laparoscopic cholecystectomy
Appendectomy
Food bolus removal
Management of bowel obstructions
Hernia repair
General emergency surgery procedures

Qualifications
Board-Certified General Surgeon
Minimum of five years of post-training experience preferred
Active North Carolina license (or ability to obtain)
BLS certification required
ACLS and PALS certifications required only if requesting conscious sedation privileges
Comfortable providing independent general surgery call coverage, including endoscopy
