Job description

Assignment Overview:
A busy, well-supported health system is seeking a Gastroenterologist for call-only coverage across both hospital and clinic settings. This is an excellent opportunity for providers who enjoy procedural work with a manageable daily volume and strong team support.

Practice Setting:

Combination of inpatient and outpatient care
350-bed hospital
Adult patient population

Support Staff:

Collaborative physician team
Advanced Practice Clinician (APC) support during weekday daytime hours
Ongoing efforts to expand weekend support

Schedule:

24-hour call shifts (7:00 AM – 7:00 AM)
Approximately 14–21 shifts per month
Average of ~6 hours of call-back per day
Daily rounding required based on census
When not actively seeing patients or performing procedures, provider may be offsite

Start Date:

April 2026 (orientation prior to first shift)

Current Coverage Needs:

Immediate gaps beginning mid-April
Ongoing coverage potential

Clinical Responsibilities:

Inpatient rounding and consults
Admissions as needed
Perform GI procedures including:
Colonoscopy
Esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD)
Average patient volume: 8–12 per day

Preferred Skills:

ERCP experience strongly preferred
Minimum of 100 lifetime ERCP procedures
At least 40 ERCP procedures within the last 24 months (with case logs)

Requirements:

Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology
Active Washington license required at time of submission
BLS certification (AHA or American Red Cross)
DEA required

Case Log Requirements:

Documentation of at least 100 GI cases within the past 24 months
Case logs must include procedure/diagnosis, date, and facility

EMR:

Epic

Additional Details:

Providers will not work solo
Established workflows and support systems in place
Ideal for providers seeking high-impact procedural work with flexible downtime while on call
