Telehealth therapist

Job description

Join our private practice as a telehealth licensed Therapist, Michigan or Indiana clinical level licenses in Social Work or mental health counseling is required. You will deliver high-quality mental health services through a secure virtual platform. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide compassionate, evidence-based psychotherapy to diverse populations, including children, adolescents, couples and adults. As a Telehealth Therapist, you will play a vital role in promoting mental wellness, managing crises, and supporting clients’ journey toward improved overall health and wellbeing—all from the comfort of your own professional space. Your expertise will help bridge gaps in access to care, ensuring clients receive timely and effective treatment tailored to their unique needs. Required Minimum amount of hours per week are 20 1099 contracted hours , paid 60% of insurance contracted amount; paid when insurance payment is received.

Duties

Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and clinical evaluations via a telehealth platform to determine client needs and develop personalized treatment plans.
Provide individual, group, couples, family, and child/youth therapy utilizing evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, psychodynamic therapy, DBT, motivational interviewing and other interventions.
Implement crisis intervention strategies to support clients experiencing acute mental health emergencies, ensuring safety and stabilization.
Maintain detailed clinical documentation in accordance with HIPAA regulations and clinical documentation standards, including progress notes, treatment plans, and medical records using Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including social workers, case managers, pediatric specialists, and medical professionals—to coordinate comprehensive care for clients with co-occurring disorders or developmental disabilities as needed.
Stay current with research developments and ICD coding updates (ICD-9/ICD-10) to ensure accurate diagnosis coding and compliance with clinical ethical guidelines.

Experience

Proven experience providing psychotherapy or mental health counseling in a telehealth setting with a strong understanding of telehealth-specific best practices.
Knowledge of crisis management techniques and experience handling emergency situations involving mental health or behavioral crises.
Familiarity with evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-focused therapy, addiction counseling, grief counseling, and psychopharmacology considerations.
Experience working with diverse populations including individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD), PTSD care needs, chronic pain management, or gender issues counseling. Cultural competency required.
Strong understanding of clinical documentation standards, ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for billing purposes, and medical terminology relevant to mental health services.
Previous inpatient or outpatient experience is preferred; familiarity with hospital settings or clinic environments enhances your ability to deliver comprehensive patient care remotely.
