Neurocritical Care Nurse Practitioner Needed in Louisiana
Start Date: April 2025 or as soon as credentialed
Contract Length: 3 months with option for extension
Schedule: 8-hour shifts
EMR: EPIC
Required Skills:
Facilitate patient admission, treatment, and discharge.
Draft medical records for cosignature (H&P, consults, progress notes, discharge summaries).
Conduct patient rounds and direct care per protocols; initiate referrals/consults.
Provide patient education and perform wound care, including debridement, dressing changes, and minor superficial surgical procedures.
Manage drains, sutures, nasogastric tubes, urinary catheters, and perform venous punctures.
Administer routine immunizations and provide critical care (ventilator management, hemodynamic monitoring, sedation/analgesia).
Perform critical care procedures (bag-mask ventilation, laryngeal mask insertion).
Proficiency in neurologic assessment, neuroimaging, stroke care, and critical care conditions (e.g., respiratory failure, infections, brain death detection).
Preferred Skills/Special Procedures:
Insert CVCs, arterial lines, and perform lumbar punctures.
Implement and document core stroke measures (e.g., NIHSS, Hunt & Hess, ICH scores).
Manage complex neurosurgery post-op cases (e.g., craniotomy, aneurysm clipping).
Detect neurocritical emergencies on CT and accurately interpret CXR/ECG.
Complete comprehensive and timely medical documentation (e.g., medication reconciliation, family/social history).
