Child & Adolescent Psychiatry
Job ID: Child Psychiatrist
This position will work closely with our Chief Clinician and will focus on prescribing, medication management, and support for children and teens.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Work closely with psychologists, nutritionists, whole-student coaches, school personnel, and families to develop comprehensive, treatment plans
• Participate in team case consultations to ensure integrated care for children and teens
• Prescribe and monitor medications in alignment with therapy and behavioral interventions
• Educate parents and caregivers on medication use, side effects, and expected outcomes
• Assess and manage psychiatric crises, including suicidality, aggression, self-harm, and acute distress
• Develop crisis safety plans in collaboration with therapists and school personnel.
• Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with Virginia regulations.
• Stay current: Keep up with the latest research and best practices in pediatric psychiatry
QUALIFICATIONS
• M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an accredited General Psychiatry residency and a Child & Adolescent Psychiatry fellowship (minimum two years).
• Active and unrestricted medical license in Virginia.
• DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances.
• Experience in outpatient child & adolescent psychiatry or a related setting.
• Familiarity with collaborative care models in school and outpatient settings.
• Strong interdisciplinary teamwork skills—able to collaborate with psychologists, nutritionists, and school-based professionals.
• Proficiency in medication management within a whole-child treatment model (e.g., integrating therapy, nutrition, and academic coaching).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with children, parents, and professionals.
