Position Overview & Clinical Scope

An Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) in Pennsylvania is seeking a Locum Tenens Anesthesiologist for full-time daytime coverage. The practice setting is an outpatient facility where the physician will provide a mixture of medical direction for CRNAs and perform their own cases. The caseload encompasses all standard outpatient surgical specialties, with an emphasis on orthopedic nerve blocks and minor pediatric procedures, but excludes cardiac and obstetrical cases.

Clinical Responsibilities & Patient Volume

Care Model: Supervision/medical direction of CRNAs and solo case management.

Patient Population: All age groups from pediatrics through geriatrics (generally ages 1+ in the outpatient setting, with occasional pediatric patients under 1 year old for ENT procedures such as myringotomy tubes and tonsillectomies).

Surgical Scope & Procedures: Outpatient surgical specialties including orthopedics. No cardiac or OB cases.

Required Clinical Skills: Advanced regional anesthesia techniques, specifically proficiency with orthopedic peripheral nerve blocks [REQUIRED].

Documentation & EHR: Epic EMR.

Candidate Submission & Qualification Requirements

Licensure & Board Certification:

Board Status: Board Certified (BC) in Anesthesiology by ABA/AOBA [REQUIRED; Board Eligible candidates NOT accepted].

State Licensure: Active Pennsylvania Medical License OR active Compact License / IMLC Letter of Qualification (LOQ) [REQUIRED]. Facility is willing to assist with licensing for qualified candidates.

Federal Credentials: Active DEA Registration [REQUIRED].

Certifications & Experience:

Life Support Certifications: Active BLS, ACLS, and PALS Certifications [REQUIRED].

Clinical Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of practicing anesthesiology experience [PREFERRED].

Facility Logistics & Orientation

Practice Setting: Outpatient Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC).

Orientation: All orientation hours are billable.

Holiday Requirements: Coverage excludes observed facility holidays.

• Day Shift (Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM | 8 Hours/Day, 40 Includes 30-minute unpaid lunch)
