Job description

We are about a 200 bed Government of Guam hospital, 4 OR suites, 1 multipurpose - formerly cysto suite, 1 L&D OR. Approximately 3600-4000 cases a year. We do everything except cardiac, though there is currently a visiting team from the mainland that do the cardiac cases twice a year and eventually will be done on a more consistent basis here.

The anesthesia staff is currently all MD. We follow an 8 hour shift schedule during weekdays and 12 hour shift on weekends and holidays. So everybody works 5 days a week for at least 40 hours minimum.

Call and post call come in the PM shift (1500-2330). On weekdays, we have staff present from 0700-1530 and 1500-2330 and weekday on-call is from 2300-0730 and is taken from home. Weekends/Holiday on-call is from 0700-1900 and 1900-0700, it is also taken from home.

Annual vacation leave and sick leave is 4 hours accrued for every 2 week pay period, after 5 years the annual leave becomes 6 hours.

Guam is very tropical, a lot of beach and thus water sports, golf?
Plenty here.
Close to Asia, so you can explore Asian countries while here. A lot of physicians who relocated to Guam actually do a lot of diving and going to other Asian countries, especially to the Philipines. Licensing is with the Guam Board of Medical Examiners and of course hospital privileges.

Also no sales tax. Property tax are very low.

There are currently a total of 4 staff that take call, 2 part time staff that are taking shift but no calls. 3 part time staff that are utilized when there are vacations and to ease the weekend call.
