Position Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Anesthesia Support Specialist to join our team at a trauma level III facility. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing anesthesia support to multiple locations, including the main OR, surgery center, and labor & delivery. This position requires flexibility and the ability to adapt to a rotating schedule, as well as availability for on-call overflow and emergent procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Elective Surgical Schedule Support: Assist in the primary support for the elective surgical schedule across 11 locations on a rotating basis, including the main OR, surgery center, and L&D.
Procedure Assistance: Provide anesthesia support for a variety of procedures, including spinals, airway management, MAC (Monitored Anesthesia Care), and general anesthesia (GA). Perform medically directed C-sections in labor and delivery, as well as intubations in the ICU for inpatient cases.
On-Call and Emergent Support: Be available for on-call duties to assist with overflow cases and emergent procedures as needed. This includes trauma-related interventions and other high-acuity cases.
Patient Demographics and Case Types: Work primarily with adult patients (90%) and pediatric patients (10%), with a mix of outpatient (90%) and inpatient (10%) cases. The average daily census is 25 cases, with 95% being surgical and 5% involving other medical needs.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum Availability: Must be available for a minimum of 72 hours per month, with flexible scheduling options (6 shifts of 12 hours, 7 shifts of 10 hours, or 9 shifts of 8 hours).
Clinical Experience: Experience in anesthesia support, including spinals, general anesthesia (GA), and airway management. Familiarity with medically directed C-sections and ICU intubations is highly preferred.
Trauma Experience: Previous experience working in a trauma facility (Level III or higher) is highly desired.
Certification: Current anesthesia certification and any necessary state or national licensure requirements.
EMR Proficiency: Ability to use and navigate EMR/charting software as required by the facility.
Vaccination: Must be willing to comply with vaccination policies as mandated by the facility.
