Critical Care Nurse Practitioner Role in VA

Assignment Details
• Start Date: 6/22/2026
• Schedule: 3 x 13-hour shifts
• Shift Times: 7:00 AM - 8:00 PM or 7:00 PM - 8:00 AM
• Availability: Must be comfortable working both days and nights
• Coverage Need: Full-time, starting in June or July
• Call: No call
Practice Details
• Setting: 703-bed Level 1 Trauma Center
• Unit: 12-bed Cardiothoracic ICU with after-hours cross coverage of PCU
• Responsibilities: Write progress notes and provide primary management for immediate postop patients, including thoracic surgery
• Skills Desired: Procedural skills are preferred but not required
• Airway Management: Intubations handled by anesthesia
• Special Experience Needed: LVAD and ECMO experience required
Requirements
• Provider Type: ACNP
• Experience: Cardiothoracic surgery ICU experience preferred
• Independence: Must be able to practice independently in high-acuity situations
• Licensure: Will wait for Virginia license, but licensed candidates are preferred
